The first Sandusky I have seen ... Missing tote, both cheeks chipped out and brutalized blade BUT ... the blade is serviceable, still with two inches of the tempered layer available. Another project for the winter ;). Sadly wkfinetools no longer feature any information about Sandusky anywhere on their website, so when you revisit this blog, maybe you could find time to fill in some of the blanks?
Good luck and keep making shavings :)
CBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10180788939843825637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8625726222028101322.post-34995440423358560132016-03-29T21:28:56.048-07:002016-03-29T21:28:56.048-07:00Was just given a #13 Sandusky, on the "it'...Was just given a #13 Sandusky, on the "it's give it to you or bin it" system that brings me many if my wooden planes. The 100 were the slight upgrade to the 99s, and are listed as 'plated' in the 1877 catalog.

Both the 99 & 100 came either as singles or matched pairs, and in todays world would be called tongue & groove - one plane to cut each. They were built to work optimally on a single width of board, and you could get either set from 3/8 to 1 inch wide. 99 1/2 & 100 1/2 were the same planes, but for thicker boards.

The specials - well, they really were special and could be anything from a slightly modified weatherstripping plane to a full blown custom job.

Checkout my second blog post in March of this year, it goes into detail on the special planes I found. If they don't look like your special, shoot me a picture and I'll see what I can dig up.

Hope this helps, and happy shavings.ChrisShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03281627714856150371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8625726222028101322.post-42764738373591732762012-05-17T05:57:02.552-07:002012-05-17T05:57:02.552-07:00Love the information on the website. I recently picked up a #99 and #100 as well as a special that I can't make out the number on. I can see the sandusky stamp and I was hoping to identify them a little more than the information I have as well as a bit of help getting these planes dialed in for use. Can you help me with this, 'cause I sure need it.coachmanninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00026576354184736028noreply@blogger.com
